性能の検証（Alienware M15x で使用されているパーツの性能比較）

ここでは、お借りした Alienware M15x Notebook を元に性能の検証を行っています。

と、言いたいのですが･･･
実はお借りした実機にはパスワードロックがかかっていて、ベンチマーク（動作測定）ソフトなどを実行させることは一切出来ませんでした･･･
とりあえず、最初から入っていた「ストリートファイター IV」のベンチマークソフトの結果は以下のようになっています。

でも、これだけ見ても比較対象がないため意味がないので･･･

とりあえずここでは、Alienware M15x で使用されているパーツごとの性能の比較を行いたいと思います。
「Alienware M15x Notebook」 の BTO （注文時に選択可能なパーツ）は、以下の通りです。

パソコンの性能は CPU で処理能力が、VGA（ビデオカード、グラフィックカード）でグラフィックの能力が決まります。
ゲームをやることを考えた場合、この双方が高い性能である必要があります。

Alienware M15x では、CPU の種類は Core i5 と Core i7 を選べます。　どちらも最新型の CPU で、高い性能を持っています。
ノートパソコンで Core i7 が選べるものはかなり少なく、この点はさすがエイリアンウェアだと言えますね。

基本的にスタンダードモードでも純正との変化の違いは確実に体感でき、ECU変更の違いにきっとご満足いただけるでしょう。

まずはそれを味わってからオリジナルデーターを試してもらっても構いません。
オリジナルデーターではこちらに多数あるデーターの中からお客さんの車に最適なデーターを選んで入れ、車の個体による違いや、装着パーツでの変化をマップに反映させています。

現在、一戸建て（5LDK）を建築中です。

そろそろ照明のことを考えないといけないのですが、
この部屋にはどんな照明をつければ良いのか？どれくらいの明るさが必要なのか？

電気工事はその叔父がよく使っている電気屋さんです。
その電気屋さんに照明のことを聞けば良いのですが、
もう配線工事が終わったため、終盤にならないと来ないようで聞けません。

昨日よりベルナデットおばさんの家に泊めてもらえることになり、本当に幸せなコンゴザイール暮らしが始まっています。

今日の日記では、その民家での暮らしの様子を綴っていこうと思います。

昨日私がザイールらしさを感じた方形の家屋は、寝る場所および家財道具置き場として使われています。生活の中心は庭の土の上。庭のメインスペースには、調理台やアイロン台になる木の机、洗った食器を置く木の机棚、調理に使う臼や杵、炭火コンロがあります。生活の中心である食事は、土の上で作られるのです。またすぐ近くの小さな木の小屋には水道水をためておくボトルタンクや食材などが収納されています。

それらのすぐ近くに、ビニールシートと材木で作った大きなテント風の小屋があり、そこには電気をひっぱって、テレビなどが見られるリビングスペースとなっています。でも、床は土なんですよ。私たちはそこに泊めていただいています。半屋外なので、蚊よけ風よけを兼ねて中にテントを張りました。

写真左は、リビングスペースの小屋、その右が調理台やアイロン台にある木の机。おばさんが食材を置いている台は椅子にもなります。子供の奥に見えるのが食器を置いておく棚。

朝食はたいてい、パンにマヨネーズをつけて食べています。マヨネーズは子供も大好きな味のようです。また、薄ーく淹れた紅茶に粉ミルクと砂糖をいっぱい入れて、チャイ（ミルクティー）を作ります。紅茶の味がほとんどしないんですけどね（^^;;

庭の土の上で朝食を作り、椅子に座ってめいめいが好きな場所（でもたいていは作った場所のすぐ近く）で食べ、朝食作りの後片付けと一緒にお皿も洗います。土の上は今度は洗い場になるわけです。お皿洗いは、１０歳の長女バミラちゃんがとっても上手。７歳の妹マシアナちゃんも、お姉ちゃんの見よう見まねで頑張っています。

　多くの謎を秘めた古代エジプト文明。
ルクソールから北へ約50km、プトレマイオス朝時代に建設された古代遺跡、デンデラのハトホル神殿にも、一つの大きな謎が残されている。
神殿の南側には秘密の地下室があり、その地下室の壁には様々なレリーフが彫られている。 ところが、それらの中のいくつかに、何を表したものか説明困難な奇妙な絵柄が描かれているのだ。
巨大なバルブ状の物体が表されており、そのバルブの中には一匹のヘビが宙に浮くような形で描かれている。また、バルブの根元にはソケットのようなものが付いており、そこにはケーブルのような細長いヒモが接続されている。
ヒモはバルブ状の物体の真下を通り、その反対側の端は、二本の腕を持つ不思議な柱のような形の台のところまで伸びている。さらに、その二本の腕がバルブの中でヘビを支えている･･･。
以上が、レリーフに表された絵のおおよその内容だが、これを見たスウェーデンの古代史研究家イファン・トロエニーは次のような結論を出した。
「これは、古代の電球とそれを支える高圧絶縁器である！」

なるほど、その絵はガラス管と金属のソケットを持つ現代の電球にそっくりである。 ガラス管の中のヘビは、フィラメント、あるいは電流を象徴的に表したものだろう。古代エジプトではヘビは稲妻のシンボルとされている。フィラメントを流れる電流を表したものと考えても良いし、放電球における内部の電流を表したものと考えることもできる。四角い台座の上に大気の神シュウが座っていることも、それが放電球であることを暗示しているようだ。高圧絶縁器から伸びた腕はもちろん電極である。
また、神官らしき人物が電球を抱えているが、おそらくこの人物は電気技師なのだろう。 そばにはナイフを手にして立っているヒヒのような動物も描かれている。これはエジプト神話で「自ら発する光で暗闇を明るくする努力をした」とされる魔法と知恵の神トートである。

レリーフに示された物体が確かに電球として機能できたこともすでに証明されている。ある技術者がこの絵の電球の復元に成功しているのだ。

古代エジプトに電気照明技術が存在したことを示す根拠はそれだけではない。 壁画、碑文、レリーフなど、光を取り入れる窓の無い最初期のピラミッドや神殿内部に施された装飾は、かなり強力な照明装置が無ければ製作不可能だったはずなのに、明らかに後代のもの以外はスス痕がまったく発見されていない。松明やロウソク、ランプなどの火を用いて照明を行なったのなら、天井には必ずススの痕が残るはずである。
ハトホル神殿地下室の天井にもスス痕はまったく見られない。

これらの事実は、古代エジプトの人々が電気照明を使って内部を照らしていたと考えなければ説明できないのである･･･。

　「古代の美術品の造形が、現代の科学文明が生み出した何かに似ている･･･。」
エジプト電球の話もまた、この手の説でたびたびくり返される、本来、とても根拠とは言えないような事柄を主要な根拠にした妄説の一つである。
ただ、そこに「スス痕が見当たらない謎」という、もっともらしい"砂糖"が振りかけられているところが、このオーパーツのミソと言えるかもしれない。

だが、その奇妙な絵の正体が何であるにせよ、少なくとも、それが電球などではないことは、非現実世界の住人を除く大勢の人たちにとっては明らかなことだろう。
例えば、どういうタイプのものでもいい、近くにある電球を一つ、よく見つめて考えてみよう。一見、単純な構造をしているように見える電球だが、それを作るためにいったいどれだけ多くの科学的知識と高度な技術が導入されていることか？
フィラメント式電球の仕組みを簡単に説明すれば、それは、「物体の温度が５２５℃以上になると一定量の光が放出される」という現象を利用したものである。電流が流れることにより、加熱された導体の熱エネルギーが光のエネルギーに変換されるわけだ。
発光の度合いは導体の温度が高いほど大きくなる。（ちなみに、現在では３４００℃の融点を持つタングステンがフィラメントに使用されている。）
だが、そのままでは、高温による化学反応のため、フィラメントは一瞬にして劣化し蒸発してしまう。そこで、それを防ぐために、電球の内部は真空状態であるか、不活性ガスで満たされていなければならない。
では、蛍光灯や水銀灯などの放電管タイプの電球はどうだろうか？
放電管は、内部に注入された蒸気やガスの中を電子が流れることにより生じる放電現象を利用したもので、ガラス管の内側には特殊な蛍光物質が塗ってある。放電によりこの蛍光物質が化学反応を起こすことで照明が行なわれるのである。

その他にも電球にはいくつか違うタイプのものもあるが、どういうタイプの電球にせよ、 それらの電気照明の背景には、根本的な電気に関する知識はもちろん、多くの科学的発見と理論、さらにはその理論を現実化するための様々な技術の開発や発展があるのだ。
古代エジプトのいったいどこに、それらの知識と技術が存在した証拠があるというのだろう？　当たり前の事だが、そのかけらすら見つかっていないのである。
「ケーブルがソケットに接続されている」「ヘビはフィラメント、あるいは電流の象徴」「柱のようなものは高圧の絶縁器」というのは根拠ではない。それはただの"解釈"である。それも果てしなく飛躍した何の証拠も伴わない解釈だ。

家具

ようやく待ちに待った家具が届いた。キングサイズベッド、TV台とソファーテーブル。

キングサイズベッドは大きすぎるので部屋の中で組み立ててくれた。頑丈そうなベッドである。マットがいささか嵩が高すぎるのは正直失敗した。フロアーベッドなのだからマットも薄いものにするべきであった。しかしそんな規格外の特殊なマットを探すとマニラではいつ買えるのかもわからない。結局は仕方がなかったのかも知れぬ。そんなわけでマスターベッドルームがベッドで埋まった。

ソファーテーブルが一番楽しみにしていたのだが、ガラスを嵌めると今度は取りはずせない。寸法が合っておらず、ガラスが若干大きすぎるのだ。配達員がドライバーで強引に開けたものだから天板に凹み傷が出来た。そしてテーブルも水平では無いのでガタガタするのである。これでは受け取れませんよ。

SMや他の安い家具屋で買ったものなら仕方ないとも思うが、高級感を売りにしているこの店で16,000Phpもしたわけで、その上1ヶ月待たされてこれでは承知できませぬ。出荷前検品という製造業として基本的なことができていない。オーダー家具ならば全数検品が当たり前だろう。店の品質に対する信頼に関わる問題である。

若干話は変わるが、美容師の友人が、衣服の雑誌取材でもフィリピンでは発売してから現品を使って撮影をすると言っていた。印刷出版されるのは2,3ヶ月後なので、雑誌を見て読者が品を買い求める時には商品がなくなっていることが多い。本来なら発売前の品を使って数ヶ月早めに撮影をし、消費者が雑誌を読むタイミングを品の販売時期にかぶせて販促と購買を繋げるべきなのだ。さもなくば記事に店や商品のクレジットを入れてもさほど意味が無い。

家具の件、配達員は一生懸命対応してくれたのがわかる。しかし配達したものが検品済みの良品でなければ意味が無い。残念ながら、プロセス不在の努力は不毛だ。

配達員に怒るべきことでもないので、淡々と修理調整を依頼してお帰り願った。

上図のように、マニラにいながらちょっぴり和モダンを嗜好してみた。やはり4畳半とはいえ井草マットの上でごろごろするのは気持ちが良い。ソファからテレビまでも丁度良い位置に収まった。200円で買った提灯にランプを入れてフロアスタンドにしたいのだが、ランプ部分だけというのがなかなか見つからない。

住居の快適さ、一歩前進。

 Q1どうして森林は世話をしないといけないのですか？

A　森林は、家を建てる材料や紙の原料となる木材を生産し、水を蓄え、洪水や山崩れを防ぎ、空気をきれいにするなど私たちの生活の中で大変役に立っています。
これらの森林の役割を十分に発揮させるには、病気にかかりにくく、害虫からの被害や雪・風の害を受けない健全な森林づくりが必要です。
このため、裸の山には木を植え、植えた木の成長を邪魔する雑草は刈り払い、クズなどのつる植物や自然に生えてきた雑木を切り、大きくなった木と木が互いの生長の妨げとならぬよう木を間引く等の手助けをしなければなりません。

 Q2一度に何本くらい育てるのですか？

A　一度に1ha当たり2,500～6,000本位の苗木を植えます。植える本数は、スギやヒノキ、アカマツなど木の種類、作りたい材の目的（例えば、柱になる木を作る、板になる木を作るなど）、植える場所の日の当たり方、道路からの距離などをよく考えて決めます。木を植えた後には、下刈り、つる切り、除伐、間伐などの山の仕事を行って元気で大きな木を作る山づくりをしますが、時にはシカに皮を剥がされたり、病気にかかったり、雪の重みに耐えられなくなって枯れてしまう木もあり、木を切る頃（50年以上）には1ha当たり700～800本位になります。

 Q3人工林で育てられる木で多いのは何ですか？

A　人工林は、主に私たちが生活の中で使う木材を生産するために作られます。このため、家を建てる材料となること、育てる人々にとっては比較的短期間で育てられること、高い収入が得られることから、スギ・ヒノキが主に育てられています。
スギは、まっすぐ上に伸び、とても大きくなり、軽く、頑丈で長持ちする上に、縦に割れやすいので板にしやすい性質を持っています。一方、ヒノキは、頑丈で長持ちするほか、見た目にはきれいな木肌をしているため、建築材、器具材、彫刻用等に用いられます。
ちなみに、法隆寺のヒノキの柱は、1000年以上たっていると言われています。

 Q4天然林の方が育てるのは大変なことですか？

庭に敷く飛び石を自分たちで作りたいと思っています。
カラーモルタルかセメントで型を作って子供達の足形を残したいと思っています。
ただ…、飛び石を

四角ではなくて円とか楕円にしたいのですが型枠は何を使ったらいいですか？
本やネットで調べても四角の木枠に流し込むというのがほとんどです。
きっちりとした円でなく角がなければいいというくらいなんですが。

また、こうしたやり方でなくても、手形足形が残せて敷石に利用出来そうなアイデアがあればぜひ教えて下さい。

寝室環境（寝室空間の温度や音など）が整っていない方や特に寝具の環境が整っていない方がとても多く見受けれれます。私は布団店を経営しておりますので日々寝具に関するご相談も受けておりますが、「この寝具環境では良い眠りができなかったのはしかたがないよな〜」と思うことがとても多いのです。

おそらく眠れない・眠りが浅いと悩んでいらっしゃる方で特に理由が思い当たらない方はだいたいがこの寝具環境ではと思ってしまいます。

それほど寝具環境が悪いのに布団や 枕はどうでもよいものを使い、身体の調子を整えるために病院や整体などに通う方、あるいは睡眠薬に頼りきりの方などが多く見受けられます。それらも必要なことかもしれませんが、ここはひとつ寝室や寝具環境を見直してくださいと声を大にして言いたいですね。普段は思いもかけていないこの部分を一つずつ改善することにより「ぐっすり眠れるようになった」と眠りに対する満足感を感じるようになった方が大勢います。

それではまず寝室環境についてです。
快適に眠るには寝室を「眠れる空間」「あなたの一番落ち着く気持ちの良い場所」にしなければいけません。

良い寝室環境を作るには主に次の６つが大事な要素となります。

１．温度と湿度
寝室の温度は季節や地域によっても若干異なりますがおおよそ夏は２３〜２５度、冬場は１３〜１５度くらいが眠る上では適温です。
また湿度は５０〜６０％が適度です。あなたのお部屋や暑すぎたりあるいは寒すぎる乾燥しすぎてはいませんか？

夏場エアコンを一晩中つけるのは自律神経の切り替えを悪くするので良くないでしょうが、眠る前にお部屋の室温を若干下げて身体の体温が上がらない程度にするのは必要かと思います。また冬場にお部屋が乾燥しすぎるとのどや口が乾燥して咳をして目が覚めるなどもありますからできる範囲で室温や湿度を保つ必要があります。

２．音
あなたはちょっとした音で目が覚めてしまうことが多いですか？
車や電車の音が気になるようでしたらカーテンや窓際に防音になるシートを張るなどの対策をしてみてはいかがでしょうか。また生活音というのも意外と大きな音がします。トイレの流し水の音や玄関やドアの開け閉めの音、電気のスイッチの音など。子供や若い人でしたら眠りも深いので少々の音では目が覚めないでしょうが年配者の方ほどちょっとした音でも目が覚めやすくなっています。家族の協力を得ながら防音に工夫をしてみましょう。
またリラックスできる音楽を低い音量でかけているのも良いです。ある実験では何もしない人より１０分程度早く寝つくという結果がでたそうです。

３．光
眠るために重要なホルモン、メラトニンは明るいと分泌されにくものです。だいたい５００ルクス以下で分泌がはじまります。しかし夜のコンビニの明るさは２０００ルクス以上と言われ、パソコンの明りも１０００ルクス以上あります。他にも携帯電話の明りなども眠る前にはなるべく浴びない方がよいのです。また「明るくないと眠れない」という方も時々おりますが、お部屋の中はできるだけ暗い方が眠りには良いです。トイレなどで起きた時の足元が危ないなんてこともあるでしょうから、豆電球かそれ以下のぼんやり何かが見えるかどうか位の暗さが良いでしょう。

４．香り
香りによっても身体はリラックスして眠りを誘う効果があります。
特にラベンダーの香りは交感神経をリラックスさせますので寝床のそばでほんわりと香りが漂う空間を作ってみてはどうでしょうか。

I can't recall exactly how the cute Bugs Bunny costume looked except that it wasn't the vinyl most of us wore those days unless we were lucky enough to have a parent who could sew or pull pieces together into a clever costume. It was probably some variation of these bunnies.

That costume stuck with me. When it came time to pick a costume for the following Halloween, I told my mom I wanted to be Bugs Bunny. I smiled as I pictured myself wearing that awesome costume instead of the plastic vinyl mashup.

Are you tired?  Are you dragging through your days?  It reminds me of that old song "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" except the refrain is "Are You Tired Today?"

We all know that there are many reasons for being tired:  stress, hormones, overweight, pregnancy, motherhood, sleep deprivation, nutritional deficiencies and more. 

As a mom of twelve, I'm extremely familiar with tiredness.  Fatigue was a way of life before I found T-Tapp.  But within two weeks of starting to exercise, my children said to me, "Wow, Mom, you're not tired all the time anymore."

But of course, even after reaching my goal, I've had seasons of being tired.  Here are a few ways I cope with times of more-than-usual fatigue:

Both perspectives oppose omega-6 fats, support saturated fats, favor eating sufficient carbs to normalize metabolism, support eating nourishing foods like bone broth, and oppose eating toxic foods like wheat.

If there is another difference between our ideas and Peat's, it's that "Peat-atarians" often eat more carbs. Danny puts it:

Paul and Peat have similar recommendations for carbohydrate consumption. Paul's recommendations hover around 150 grams while Peat usually recommends 180-250 grams, but he himself eats closer to ~400 grams.

So I thought it might be worth looking at the issue of overall carb consumption.

Carbs for Hypothyroidism

In Is There a Perfect Human Diet? (Jan 18, 2012) we noted that diseases can change the optimal diet. In some diseases it's better to lower carb consumption, but in others it's better to increase carb consumption. The example we gave is hepatitis; hepatitis B and C viruses can exploit the process of gluconeogenesis to promote their own replication, so high-carb diets which avoid gluconeogenesis tend to slow down disease progression.

Another disorder that might benefit from more carb consumption is hypothyroidism. A number of people with hypothyroidism have benefited from Peat-style carb consumption. Here is ET commenting on last week's post:

Paul says that "I'm not persuaded that it's a desirable thing to keep liver glycogen filled at all times, but for some health conditions it may be good to tend that way, like hypothyroidism." Well, according to Chris Kresser, 13 of the top 50 selling US drugs are either directly or indirectly related to hypothyroidism. If going by either the low body temperature/low pulse diagnostic, and/or some kind of pattern on the serum tests (Anti-TG, TPO, TSH, free T-3, free T4, total T3, total T4), we are talking a significant proportion of the population, especially women, being hypothyroid in some form….

Many with low T3 have a conversion problem from T4 in the liver (80% of T3 is converted from T4 in the liver and kidneys – only a small portion is coming from the thyroid gland).

Is it a good idea to NOT try to fill the liver glycogen in such a pattern? For those who have lived with the consequences of low T3 (adrenaline rush, waking up in the middle of the night, fatigue, tendency to orange-yellowish color i the face etc.), and had improvements on a more Peat like diet, I do not think so.

The way to fill liver glycogen, of course, is by eating more carbs.

One state or two?  Boycott of Israeli goods or goods from the settlements?  Is the lobby the genesis of American wrongdoing in Palestine or is it imperialism?  The questions -- regarding vision, strategy, and analysis -- produce sharp cleavages on the Left.  Indeed, generally ones much deeper than they need to be.  And they remain stubbornly unsettled.

They also congeal in the person of Norman Finkelstein, who has taken some unpopular positions -- his insistent call for a two-state solution, his references to "cultish" aspects of BDS -- as well as more popular ones, like blaming the occupation solely on the Israel lobby.  For that reason he has become a lightning rod, attracting furious bolts of criticism and support.  The core issues, however, remain obscured amidst a charged atmosphere of extravagant denunciations (catcalls of Zionism and worse) from one side and fierce defenses from the other.

From one perspective, it's an odd contretemps.  Finkelstein has spent decades fighting for Palestinian dignity and a place for Palestinians to live free of the occupation's suffocating violence and capricious indignities.  He is the maverick scholar who exposed the American intellectual community as a gaggle of hacks by dissecting Joan Peters's From Time Immemorial, showing it to be a hoax intended to deny the Palestinians peoplehood by painting them as peripatetics who had fabricated a "Palestinian" identity to ride the wave of Israel's successful nation-building project.  And his forensic dismantling of Israeli scholarly mythologies in Image and Reality of the Israel-Palestine Conflict remains one of the very best primers on the prejudices that surround the conflict.

For all that time his fight has been for a two-state settlement: something that seemed reasonable in 1988 and in the early 1990s.  But what seemed possible twenty years ago -- with the Israeli electorate temporarily shaken by the savage repression of the 1st intifada and Israeli capital needing to recover from the aftermath of the destabilizing military-industrial accumulation patterns of the 1970s and 1980s, break through the sectoral envelope of domestic accumulation, and globalize -- seems less possible now, with militarized accumulation again on the rise in the Middle East and elsewhere.  In some ways, the argument for two states has become a relic when so much of the discourse (less so the organizing) of the radical pro-Palestinian Left in the West and the Palestinian Left in the Occupied Territories is oriented towards one single state.

Furthermore, the constituency for partition is far from a majority of the Israeli population.  Those accepting removal of all settlements totaled 18 percent of the population in 2006 and declined to 14 percent in 2007.  So, the Israeli state is in sync with the sentiments of the Israeli people.  Rejectionism is consensual, while disagreements are technical, niggling about how tight should be the noose around Palestinian society's neck.  Thus a program for a forced withdrawal to the pre-1967 borders is a challenge to Israeli power.  Two states with a just resolution of the refugee question and UN SC 242 borders is rabidly rejected by not only Israel but also America.  It makes little sense to speak of "selling out" when the two-state solution is so stolidly rejected by those who must consent to its implementation for it to have meaning.
